Your child’s safety is first, second, and third on our list of priorities. EF is a global organization, and has been leading the way in student travel for over 60 years. From pandemics or a sprained ankle to missed flights or confusing paperwork, we’ve seen—and have the resources to handle—it all.
Our best-in-class approach to safety

See how EF is leading the way in safety
“I would send my kid by herself with EF any day of the week. Everyone involved—the bus drivers, Tour Directors, and local guides—all have your kids’ safety in mind.”
Lindsay J., parent from Oklahoma
52,000 people are behind every tour
We have 52,000 team members all over the world with regional offices in Boston, Austin, Denver, and Washington, D.C.—including a 24/7 Safety & Incident Response Team. Not only does this mean we have the local knowledge to help keep your child safe in any destination they travel to with us, but we can react quickly and in-person if there’s an emergency. We also provide overnight security at every hotel your child will stay in, and every group is automatically enrolled in our Peace of Mind Program, which provides flexibility if travel plans change.

Expanding your child's global perspectives (and making sure they have a blast!) takes a village
We conduct background checks on all adult travelers
To help provide a safer experience for all travelers, we require every adult (aged 20 and older) to complete a background check before going on an EF student tour. It’s a secure process and is similar to what many school districts implement for adults in their communities who volunteer or chaperone.

Enroll your child in one of our Travel Protection Plans
When you decide to have your child travel with EF, you can choose to enroll them in one of our Travel Protection Plans, both of which are designed specifically with EF travelers in mind. These affordable plans provide pre-departure and on-tour benefits, including medical expense coverage that may apply on tour and tour cancellation for reasons specified in the plan.
