Educational travel 101

EF has set the standard for travel-based learning for 60 years. Not only do our educational tours amplify the lessons your child is already exploring in the classroom, but they also help build more empathy, open-mindedness, confidence, and cultural understanding. And (maybe most importantly!) our tours are fun. Your child will experience dozens of magical a-ha! moments out in the world with EF that reignite their love of exploration, discovery, and learning.

"When you go into the world, you're able to talk to new people and change is inevitable. You evolve and grow. I saw that change in my daughter."

Briscilla A., parent

The EF Method delivers growth that lasts a lifetime

Our educational philosophy, the EF Method, helps students build essential skills needed for future readiness in three primary growth areas. We build all of our itineraries based on the EF Method, so students are immersed in a continuous journey of experiential learning from the moment they arrive.

Just by visiting a new place, your child will gain more understanding of the world. Our approach to hands-on learning ensures they’ll also become more empathetic, open-minded, and curious to discover what else is out there.

Your child will engage all their senses as they feel what new places can teach them. As they make their own discoveries (like ordering a slice of pizza in NYC!), they’ll build confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills. And with support and insightful context from your child’s Tour Director and local guides, they’ll discuss and reflect on these impactful moments throughout their trip. They’ll even make connections to their tour long after they return home.

When your child travels with a group of their peers (whether from their own school or another in the U.S.), they’ll automatically practice interpersonal skills like flexibility, adaptability, and compromise. They’ll also become stronger collaborators and communicators by engaging in group activities—and having shared experiences with other students outside their comfort zones is a great way to form lasting and meaningful connections.

"The tour broadened the horizons of my students and has inspired them to be lifelong learners and travelers. They see the world in a different light.”

Daniel C., Principal

How Marissa discovered a true sense of home in NYC

Growing up in Arizona, Marissa always dreamed about someday living in NYC, but visiting and exploring for herself never seemed attainable. All that changed when her teacher, Ms. Reed, gave Marissa the chance to visit Manhattan on an EF Explore America tour. Fast-forward to today, and Marissa calls the Big Apple home. Here’s her story.

Yes, they can earn credit for that

Our educational tools give your child even more opportunities to grow from their experience—in tangible ways, too. And we’re accredited, just like their school. This means all of EF’s programs meet the highest of educational standards, and it enables us to offer our own unique academic courses designed to complement and deepen your students’ travel-based learning experience.
